UPCOMING BANTAM ONLY FLOCK SWAPS
Our Mission
At The Happy Homestead, our mission is to create a safe, welcoming, and high-quality space where poultry enthusiasts of all experience levels—whether first-time backyard keepers or seasoned breeders—can come together with confidence.
We are committed to fostering an environment where bird health, transparency, and integrity come first. Every event is thoughtfully planned to ensure that attendees feel comfortable and confident bringing home birds from any of our vendors. Through clear expectations, strong biosecurity standards, and a culture rooted in respect, we strive to set a higher standard for poultry events.
Our goal is to make beautiful bantam breeds accessible across North Carolina, bringing exceptional birds directly to communities throughout the state. By doing so, we help eliminate barriers like high shipping costs and logistical challenges, making it easier for individuals and families to enjoy and raise quality poultry.
We proudly partner with locally owned businesses and farms, supporting the communities that support us. Each location is intentionally chosen to strengthen local connections, promote small businesses, and create meaningful, community-driven experiences.
Above all, we aim to build more than just an event—we are building a trusted network, a supportive community, and a space where passion for poultry can thrive without fear, uncertainty, or unnecessary barriers.

🧡 We take compliance seriously. Every single event and location is approved through the Department of Agriculture, the regional NPIP representative, and the State Poultry Veterinarian. We don’t cut corners—we make sure everything is done the right way.
💛 We’ve also gone through policies, rules, and requirements with local law enforcement and our attorney to ensure everything we do is above board. We don’t push boundaries—we respect them. We dot our I’s and cross our T’s.
💚 We choose our host sites carefully. We partner with insured, locally owned businesses that are excited to have us and support the community. Supporting local matters to us.
(And for transparency—we stepped away from Tractor Supply locations due to corporate policy changes, so we don’t risk last-minute cancellations or issues. Stability matters for everyone involved.)
💛 Yes, we do have vendor fees—but here’s what that actually means:
Our vendors are supported. THH provides backup supplies like trash bags, shavings, water, and feed in case anything is forgotten. Vendors are also entered into a vendor-only waffle, with prizes often ranging from $85–$200 in value—things that help grow their programs.
Those fees also help cover insured venues and are reinvested back into the event—and into supporting other local businesses, not big box stores.
Oh, and Plot Twist- we still put over $200 of our own money into these swaps. The ONLY profit we make is from the sale/presale of our own birds.
🧡 We do require vendor applications—and that’s intentional.
Our spaces are limited, and we receive a LOT of interest. We carefully select vendors so we can:
✔ Ensure NPIP/AI compliance (especially across state lines)
✔ Properly advertise and promote each vendor
✔ Create a balanced, high-quality variety
➡️ if you don’t know who or what is setting up at your event- how can you ensure compliance across state line? How can you advertise to help your vendors if you don’t know who is coming or what they’re bringing? ⬅️
That preparation is why our vendors typically do so well—because they’re supported for months leading up to the event.
💚 And something we’re really proud of—our vendors GIVE BACK.
They donate hatching eggs, chicks, even things like DNA testing—just to make the experience better for attendees. That kind of community is hard to find.
🐥 At the end of the day, for us—it’s about quality over quantity.
We don’t need the biggest event. We want the right event.
Good, honest, knowledgeable, kind breeders who create a safe, welcoming, and healthy environment for poultry lovers at every level. 🐥
That’s what matters to us.
That’s what we’re building.
These swaps were created out of love and passion.
And that’s why—in our opinion—these swaps are something special. 🐓✨
