It's simple, really. Erika loved Animals, and Travis loved Erika. One day they went into Tractor Supply, fell victim to the chick bins, and came home with 6 little biddies.
Erika had no idea that she would fall in love with chickens so much (Noone had explained chicken math to her yet) -
But here we are a year later, buying hatching eggs - incubating them - and then making them available to the public.
As of March 2025 - The Happy Homestead has started breeding Seramas, Japanese, and D' uccles!
ABOUT THE HAPPY HOMESTEAD
The Happy Homestead is a small start up business that breeds our superstar Seramas, Japanese Bantams, OEGB, and D’Uccles.
While we are shifting focusing to breeding fancy and ornamental breeds – we still stay true to our roots – buying hatching eggs and incubating them so that we can bring breeds to this area that other local people don’t have access to.
We also make homemade goods like Beef Jerky and Dog Treats for our favorite people and livestock guarding fur-children.
We have a strong connection to the community, supporting other local breeders and farmers as we learn from each other. If we don’t have what you are looking for, I promise that we know someone who does – and we will gladly recommend them to you!
